Yeah, there's a reason for that. I've been battling with Bert Olivier's essay 'Trauma and Literature: Derrida, 9/11 and Hart's The Reconstructionist.'
It's heavy going! I'm enjoying it though. I'm picking apart what the ideas of 'trauma' presented and seeing how I can apply that to my own analysis.
After this one, I have Paul Neumarkt's essay, 'The Orgy of Self-Renunciation: an analysis of the motif of war in modern literature.'
So yeah, I'm working! Will come back after these two essays and write an entry about them me thinks.

Starting again!
This blog is for me to keep on top of my PhD. Hopefully, people will read it, comment on it, and I will then be spurred on to get finished.
I really, really want to finish it this year, and so, I figure if I put my progress into the public domain, I will feel like people are watching me and so I have to get there.
So fiar, I've written about 15,000 words and then scrapped them. I'm starting again from scratch with the write up. I plan to post here every other day or so with the new word count and thoughts and ideas on the work I've read, or the work I've been doing.
Wish me luck and please feel free to comment/berate/encourage.
